Steam coming off or around back of engine

Asked by Dena Apr 16, 2017 at 09:45 AM about the 1993 Saturn S-Series 2 Dr SC1 Coupe

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

Replaced new heater hose for heater coil,
after it get to operating temperature / driving  
it has steam coming off the back off bottom
of engine.  All my gages are good and it's
not over heating?

New heater hose may be leaking and hitting exhaust causing the steam, after car gets up to temp pop the hood and look for any leaks, and keep an eye on coolant level.

Yeah try the simplest things first go ahead and retighten that hose you just put on for the heater core might just be a lose hose?
