Altanater Maybe?

Asked by Ashlee Aug 05, 2016 at 09:33 AM about the 1994 Saturn S-Series 4 Dr SL Sedan

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

I have a 1994 Saturn stick shift. I just
purchased it for a couple hundred dollars
and when I start it up it dies unless I keep
my foot on the gas but even then it still may
die even while driving so I put a fully charged
used battery on it and it fires right up but
eventually dies. What could it be?

Guys need to know the check engine light doesn't need to be ON to have codes set, a large percent of vehicles I inspect have codes and NO engine light on.This applies to ALL manufactures. OBDII Global standards.

I had a problem with my idle it would go super high and then super low usually when it was parked at idle and go up to 2000 down to 500 turned out to be the throttle position sensor. Don't know if this is your problem but I thought I'd throw it out there.
