There is a seal on each side where the C/V axle goes into the trans, its part of the trans not the axle. Output shaft oil seal.

Seal itself is easy to replace as long as you already have the c/v axle out but since you have to take the c/v axle out to replace it you need to think about the age/miles of/on the c/v axles & wheel bearings and replace them too, If you taking it to a shop and they take it out or off to replace the seal, then a year or two later you have to pay the same labour charges again to have the c/v axles replaced and then a month or two later have to pay those same charges again to replace the bearings. It done every day I have seen it, For the same labour cost to replace those seals is more than to do the axles and just shy to do the bearings as they have to be pressed out and new ones pressed in. So Think about that.

Make sure you installed it correctly and the other side is not leaking or at the drain plug. Try to find where it is leaking from. May have not got it in all the way or left some of the old one in there.

I appreciate the input for sure. Am going to get help and add oil to see exactly where the oil is coming from. If there's a second seal inside the case on the other side of the bearing then I'm guessing it's probably shot as well. I'm cleaning up after someone else's repair attempt. Thank you all very much
