Life expectancy
Asked by Jon Apr 19, 2018 at 02:31 AM about the 1995 Saturn S-Series 4 Dr SL Sedan
Question type: General
I just recently bought a 1995 Saturn...
I have no clue what model it is.
All I know is that it had every service exactly when
it was due, and it was not driven much... Only has
100-something thousand miles. ( well below
average for a car this age). What can I expect to
see as far as life span and what may I see start to
break around this time in its life?

Actually you can get up 400,000 miles out of that car if you take care of it & change the fluids regularly just like any car proper maintenance see & what happens good luck !
Got a 2002 SL2 with auto trans at 198000 miles. Bought it used at 60k, changed oil as requested, have changed trans fluid & spin on trans filter twice. Runs like a top, but must keep up with oil, check & top off every other tank of gas. Various sensors, coil packs, wires, plugs changed over the years but a very reliable car. Needs whole exhaust replaced, weighing my options. Will it last another 100k or 1k?
I replaced the entire exhaust on my SW2 for about $400 with ebay parts, including a Catco converter about $200... You might need a downstream 02 sensor. Put some trans fluid on the exhaust manifold studs and nuts, wirebrush them and repeat. Use six point socket and rock them left-right loose carefully. You may need a muffler hanger as well. The replacement muffler not the same as stock, it will fit but you have to play with the positioning. 1 day project. Parts from parts store way too pricy....
