Question type: Maintenance & Repair

I have a 99 saturn sl1 im paying on and apparently
the people who owned it b4 me never changed the
oil because i bought a valve cover gasket because
it was burning and leaking oil i changed oil and
within 3 days it was black again that being said i
took valve cover off and it was packed with black
flakey burnt oil where they never changed it  so
after i put gasket on no leaks so i drove to advance
auto and showed them pictures of what the motor
looked like with gunk on it and they told me to use
sea foam and dump 1/3-1/2 in the motor so i did
drove it for about 30-45 mins then came home and
changed oil and filter it was ofcourse black again
so sense new oil its been clean for 2 days so thats
a good sign but now my oil light comes and it
makes a ticking noise so i thot mayb it was leaking
pulled over checked oil its fine right where it
should be so i turned off car and waited few
minutes restarted drove light was off ticking
stopped then again a few minutes later came back
ticking started so im starting to think mayb sea
foam did clean gunk off and its getting stuck in oil
filter???????? Can some one help me?????

Try replacing the oil filter. You may need to do the entire oil change process every few weeks until all of the crap is out.

No I don't think the sea phone gets stuck in the oil I would say do the seafoam treatment once again

Additionally if you have bad gas in there like a cheaper brand gas it'll make the engine tick too so it might not just be the oil might be the gasoline?

Not the seafoam getting stuck in the oil, just all the rest of the crap in there too. It won't hurt to do a few oil changes and filter changes until it is cleaned up.
