Possible Clogged EGR valve?

Asked by Guru6W2FM Apr 14, 2020 at 12:14 PM about the 1999 Saturn S-Series 4 Dr SL2 Sedan

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

Ever since I purchased my used
1999 Saturn SL2, it has white
smoke coming out of the
tailpipe after the engine is
warmed up. It produced a funny
burning smell.

If you have white exhaust you should do a compression & or block test to see if the head gasket is blown

A clogged EGR valve will trigger the check engine light or service engine soon light and set an EGR valve trouble code. Hope that helps! Jim
