1999 Saturn SL2 RPM fluctuats between normal and sometimes goes to over 2000 while running ? what causes this ?

Sometimes the RPM will go up for no reason, when cold or hot, is dangerous when driving ! Anyone know what causes this ?

Sounds like a TPS a throttle position sensor that could make your idle go up wildly up and down I would recommend probably replacing that other than that I would say a tune up and make sure everything else is good but when I had issues like that when I was at Park the RPMS jumped wildly so it's probably your TPS sensor?

I'm also having this problem besides it trying to stall and run really rich please help. It was showing code for knock sensor so I replaced it and still does it
