Plastic exhaust box in engine well

Asked by Bradley1950 Aug 14, 2020 at 06:39 PM about the 2001 Saturn S-Series 3 Dr SC2 Coupe

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

My car keeps idling high when started and dies
while driving. It has a plastic box in left front of
engine well that exhaust was venting to. It has
melted.

Whatever the box is (probably the air intake) it is not an exhaust box. You must have an exhaust leak.

you have a fan/air pump that is there to feed air in to the exhaust if that has melted the valve and the air pump will need to be replaced
