My car has been overheating all week.

Question type: Maintenance & Repair
I have 2001 Saturn SC2 that has
been overheating all week, I've taken
it to my mechanic twice and he's
replaced water gallon to my cooling
system. But it still over heats, could it
a pipe that's busted? And if so is it
inexpensive to get fixed, or
something that I can fix by myself?

99% of the time it's the thermostat that's bad. Replace that first. See if she still overheats after that. If you aren't leaking coolant all over the driveway, then no pipe is busted. The system is under pressure, so you'd know if you had a broken pipe.
If you've never replaced one before, just go to Youtube and type in Saturn thermostat replacement.

That's another thing, I just found out that it's now leaking coolant. So it could be a pipe.
It would be one huge leak to make the car over heat. I would replace the thermostat and find the leak also. It wouldn't be a pipe that literally has a hole in it. That would be blowing everywhere. You may have a loose pipe clamp or the radiator itself may be leaking at one of the corners. I would be getting under the car really soon and finding that leak. If it's the water pump, you will want to figure that out sooner than later. If that goes, you will be left on the side of the road.
