Even when temperatures at in the single digit minus range, you should keep your gas tank as full as possible. Extreme temp differences between the inside and outside of the gas tank can cause condensation to form inside. More space inside the tank, the worse the problem is. Water is heavier than gasoline, so condensation settles to the bottom of the tank and into the fuel lines. At such extreme low temps, oil can turn into a gel like substance. Not good on startup.
