Replacement console for '07 Tahoe

Just wear? Scuffing or is it broken? You can remove the console without a lot of trouble (just a bunch of hard to find screws and some wiring harness connectors) - once it's out go up to any auto parts store and browse their selection of SEM or Duplicolor vinyl paint (or VHT or ColorBond...) Find a good match or use your car interior color code (found on the side of the driver's door). This type of paint if very easy to work with and goes on beautifully, you can easily restore to like-new a crusty old console. You can also use a "plastic adhesion promoter" to help lay down the paint but that's typically for very hard-to-bond-to surfaces. Just clean everything thoroughly before painting, a good degreaser detergent is a must. If you have to replace a console, hit up the local boneyards first, I bought a console for my vehicle for about $70, restored it as per above, then installed it.
Thank you Ken. Great tips and info. The leather is 'broken' console works fine. Boneyards are great idea- but was wondering about just having it re-covered.
I see console covers for sale on ebay all the time, and if you can find a matching console from a boneyard it will probably be cheaper than recovering one, the vinyl paint works well on the covers too.
