alternator removal

Disconnect the negative battery cable. Remove the windshield wiper module for 3.0 L and smaller engines or the right front lower splash shield for engines larger than 3.0 L. Remove the accessory drive belt. You will also need to remove the lower bolt and wiring harness from the oil dipstick tube if you have an engine larger than 3.0 L. Take the mounting bolts off of the alternator and disconnect the alternator's electrical harness. This will allow you to remove the alternator assembly. Install the new alternator and connect the electrical harness. Tighten the mounting bolts and install the drive belt. You will also need to install the lower bolt and wiring harness from the oil dipstick tube if your engine is larger than 3.0 L. Connect the windshield wiper module or right front lower splash shield as required.

Your van most likely has a 3.3L or 3.8L either way they are the same. Steps. 1. Remove negative battery cable from battery. 2. Unplug alternator, push red tab in and squeeze black tab down and pull. 3. Remove alternator cable, pull back rubber boot, 13mm rachet and remove the nut. 4. Remove belt, this might be tricky because the tensioner is nearly inaccessible, what I usually do is remove the passenger side wheel and remove the belt cover, (3 plastic clips and 1, 8 or 10 mm bolt) then you will be able to see the tensioner, take a pry bar and pry the tensioner down and slip the belt off carefully, pry bar may slip. 5. 2, 15 mm nuts hold the alternator in place, 2 nuts on either side of the alternator pulley and 1 bolt above the A/C compressor. 6. Remove alternator, re install in reverse order.
