Dodge charger overheating Help

Asked by Albegel May 29, 2017 at 11:40 PM about the 2007 Dodge Charger SE RWD

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

I have an 07 dodge charger v6 and been dealing
with this for a year now. Car overheats on
occassion and water boils and weeps out of
reservoir. I only drive it if it working right but only
couple blocks. When it overheats i pull over wait
for cool and fill up coolant and drive straight home.
Its parked most of time, scared. I have no signs of
blown head gasket, shop confirmed.  Coolant leaks
no one can find the leak. find the leak.
Occassionally I have no hot air from heater only
cold air. The check engine light is on with an evap
code and now 0128 is an indication of a faulty
thermostat or ECT (engine coolant temp sensor).
On rare occassions an oil can warning light will
also appear. We had the following replaced all new
parts; Radiator, Water Pump, Thermostat,
Thermostat oulet, heater core flushed and bled few
times but still have same issue. The floor in cabin
is dry and both fans come on accordingly. Can
someone please help ive already invested too
much money and still have same problems. Now
unemployed raising two kids cant affor playing
guessing game anymore or be without my car.
Thank you.

I am sorry but you could be more specific. All hoses and cap have been checked. Everything seems ok.

I think I solved the overheating problem..it was a plugged up heater hose their is a tee in it.its plastic and it corroded and causing back pressure and overheating..it's a 50$ part at oriely Auto parts.

None of my hoses was leaking. I did notice one heater hose was hot the other was not.. there fore no circulation.... it also had trapped air pockets because of this.air pockets are a pain in the butt to get out.

Has anyone found a solid solution for their Chargers? 2007 Hemi 5.7 still overheats. I’ve replaced water pump, thermostats, flushed system multiple times, cracked radiator twice, hoses even my electronic control module went out. I feel extreme heat in the floorboards when using the air conditioner and you can smell the hot humid air entering in to the cabin but mechanics keep saying everything checks out. Every time I take it in even new mechanic the top radiator hose is leaking. At one point I kept running by just adding coolant since I was losing so much. Love this car and can’t afford another. Any solutions??

I have an 07 2.7 charger that is on it's 2nd motor from absolutely NOTHING wrong to within a few miles down the road motor blew!!! I've had the car for going on 3 years now and that was having it for 11 days. Got new motor for it and was fantastic for almost a year then outta nowhere, all hell broke lose and no one and everyone knows what's wrong with it, which was and now is EVERYTHING! Started with one day the air blew hot instead of cold,no biggie just needed a shot of freon right?? NOPE because as soon as the freon was inserted I heard ab awful loud sound like it was starting to knock and then a fan malfunctioning. By the time I drove the 15 minute drive home, no cold air, knocking is louder and then started running hot. Opened the hood and resovoir is literally bubbling and what would come to be the breakdown of wires melting, oil looking like chocolate milk with coffee grounds living in the resvoir. Bought over 6 new caps being told that's the cause for overheating. No matter what the caps wouldn't seal even after replacing the tank. I'm not going to list everything we've replaced on this car because it would just piss me off more than I am now. Use ur imagination about what u would replace for everything that I've listed so far. Basically everything but putting in a third motor... NEVER!! Now the car won't even fucking start or turn over even with a jump, starting fluid, even baby Jesus himself couldn't save this worthless ass car that Dodge sold to millions of ppl just to be fucked no matter what. Insurance won't do shit because my car is paid off and it's like 13 years old. All warrants were or are no good now, can't afford to do anything to fix it at this point, douchebags offer basically the cost of a tank of gas to take it off my hands. I've put hours of my time, sweat, money little by little fixing this car into my dream car and now only have a useless pile of metal in my driveway because I refuse to just give it away to some twatwaffle wanting something for nothing and dodge won't do shit. It's unfair and they should be held responsible. Wtf is insurance for anyways?!: it's sure as hell not to help you!! It's a scam like every thing else in the world.law says u have to have it even if it is never used or can help u!!! Smfh
