2008 dodge charger overheating

I have a 2008 dodge charger one day omw home from work
my timing belt broke. I took my engine apart and replaced
engine all the valves cleaned the heads put new spark
plugs in replaced the water pump and timing belt and put a
new fan in after putting it all back together again it was
running again, I soon found out that it was starting to over
heat I would turn the heater on and the temp would drop or
if I was on the freeway it was fine til I got into traffic. So I
though maybe the Tstat went bad because I had the engine
out for a few weeks so I just replaced it 2 days ago and
again it's still overheating but now it's overheating worse
then it was before. My car was not overheating before my
timing belt broke. I have used the bleeder to get air out and
fill the coolant up but it always give me hot air steam and it
shots a little cool and out sometime or a fine mist but it
does not fully let out and coolant from the bleeder. I'm
going crazy trying to figure out what is wrong I would take it
to the shop but I just don't habe the money right now. Any
help would be appreciated thank you

Sounds like your head gasket is not fully sealed, either by improper placement or surfaces not fully cleaned or uneven/rough head/block surfaces. Test for exhaust in coolant to confirm.

If so test compression on all cylinders to confirm which side is leaking exhaust.

I was going to do a compression test and a leak down test next to check my buddy said he didn't think it's a compression issue with the way the car is running. But it never hurts to check. I just don't understand why it got worse after I changed the tsat

Well speaking of a gasket issue, if it is exhaust in cooling system gets worse and worse. If stat is installed correctly the only correlation is more run time since head install.

I didn't ues new bolts, had heads looked at before I installed them and everything was good on them I'm going to do a block test this weekend then also a compression test or a leak down test I don't know which of the two might be Better? But I know for sure the block test will let me know if I habe any gases in my coolant. And it's a cheap test to do I really appreciate all the info you guys are giving me

Welcome, exhaust cooling system first, A compression test will tell you which cylinders are affected, most time with head gasket there will be two cylinders side by side leaking. leak down does basically the same test but needs a air compressor and more information, you will hear where the leak is or going to like to the radiator. There is a paper test pull one spark plug at a time turn engine over a few times with engine cranking up disabled so it does not fire up and see if there is anything coming out od spark plug hole by putting the paper over the hole then smelling it if anything does stick to paper to see if it other than just fuel like antifreeze too, do that to each, simple test, can help detect if its head gasket related or nothing appears may point to a possible block crack if all other test point to exhaust in cooling system.

Update: so I did a block test and it came out good no cracked heads or gaskets but when doing the test I came upon a small crack in my coolant tank, I got a new one and replaced it same day and after that my car has been running like new no overheating at all it even runs a little on the cooler side now. Thank you all for the help!

I have a 2008 Dodge charger and I replaced the raigator and put a new thermostat in it but I don't have no heat and it keep my hot what can be the problem
