is there a way to plug in my smart phone so that it will play through the speakers?

In my previous 1999 Passat I had a tape deck, and there was a tape cassette gizmo that I could plug into my deck and my my phone to listen to the audio books stored there through the car's speakers.
With this 2006 Forester LL Bean I have a CD player and I am not sure if or how to do the same thing...plug in my phone so I can hear my audio books which are stored on my phone.

there is not a way to do that on the factory sterio deck in that car.
