'Do not drive' dash light in '07 LL Bean Outback

Asked by Julian Nov 21, 2015 at 09:18 PM about the 2007 Subaru Outback 3.0R L.L.Bean Edition Wagon AWD

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

My mother has been hounding me about her auto problems today...
She has the LL Bean Subaru Outback with the 'big engine'.
The 'check engine' light stays solid and 'cruise control' light flashes with the
car running. Apparently she also has a 'do not drive' indicator on her dash. I
have never heard of such a light and my research cannot offer any clues. Is
this real? Is she seeing things? Is her car the first one to illuminate this
light? Is that why I have found nothing about it online? Not even on Subaru's
webpage describing all the indicator lights... What's going on? I figured that
she needs a new gas cap for the 'check engine' and 'cruise' lights to remain
off because she later informed she doesn't have one anymore, but no
explanation for 'DND' light.
Thanks you

I don't know about do not drive but the CEL needs to have the codes read so you know what is wrong.

You are correct, there is no do not drive light, the ECM may need to be reset,to clear any codes the car has,and should fix the issue, but if codes do not clear,im thinking she may have a issue with the cruze control module.

Yeah I still haven't found anything about a 'DND' light. I should have asked her to send a picture of it haha. Car is going to the shop Monday. I'll post conclusion to 'DND' light.

1 get a proper gas cap and mount it 2 disconnect batt net for an hour or two 3 reattach battery 4 start car (long crank required) 5 cel and cc off? 6a yes; you're done 6b no; scan code and erase 7 cel returns? 8a yes; scan and repair problem 8b no; you're done, unless 3rd driving event retrievers cel Ern
