2006 Subaru Outback 2.5L 4Cyl Engine Fix

Asked by Guru7CR1N Jun 10, 2020 at 07:21 PM about the 2006 Subaru Outback 2.5 XT Wagon AWD

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

Here is what my mechanic says needs to be done ...

LONG BLOCK - Remove & Replace - 2.5L Eng, Normally Aspirated, Automatic Trans - [Consists of a Cylinder Block fitted with Pistons, Rings, Connecting Rods, Crankshaft and all Bearings, Cylinder Head(s), Camshaft(s), Timing Chain or Belt and Sprockets or Gear

He is quoting about 8250 for a remanufactured engine, labor and misc. Does this sound like a fair price in the Seattle area? Would a rebuild make any sense? Car has 200,000 miles but is in good condition otherwise.

Thanks for your time.

That price is very high and your car is not worth spending that much.
