Question type: Maintenance & Repair

Hi all,

My 06 Outback XT died two weeks after I bought it.
Mechanic says I need a new engine and turbo. What
should I do?

Thanks,

The 2005+ 2.5T combos were notoriously bad. I'd investigate swapping in a 2.5i (with dry head gaskets), even though you'd have to swap out the ECM, harnesses, etc. Otherwise dump the car, as the turbo iteration was a nightmare.
