Did you loose a belt?
No, This is the 2nd time this has happened. It goes out then comes back after a minute or 2.
Then how do you loose power steering? The only thing I can think of is if an idler pulley. tensioner pulley, alternator, A/C compressor pulley bearing or power steering locking up for you not to have power steering at the same time.
That car the 2007 Buick Lucerne CXL V8 has hydraulic power steering, with a pump on serpentine belt.... not electronic. Is there any noise, like sort of 'growling' when you turn... or anything? If not, that leads me back to Rowefast's first answer, the serpentine belt. It may be loose, push on the belt (with engine off) and if it is not tight, the p/s and alternator may not be driven. It takes a lot of load, more that you may realize to drive the alternator. The next thing is to check you battery cables for corrosion.
