It could be low on oil or low oil pressure.

In your opinion is the tick coming from the engine like a valve tap or something on the outside of the engine ?

It sounds like a valve tap or the lifters are ticking. The oil has just been changed. And all the belts are perfectly fine.

So you just changed your oil so this is what you do go purchase a bottle of Lucas Engine Oil Stablizer remove one quart of oil from engine and put in the Lucas. Trust me that tap will go away because I have seen and heard it do it on a friend of mines vehicle that was tapping like a sewing machine with in 45 minutes of idling the tap was gone.

YEP LIKE I SAID ABOVE.. FIREBIRD PRETTY CLOSE..USE TO BE A PRODUCT CALLED DRIPOWER WAS FANTASTIC..ALSO YOU SHOULD PULL THAT VALVE COVER TO MAKE SURE..A TIMING CHAIN TENSIONER WILL DO THAT ALSO..BUT TRY THE ADDITIVE FIRST AND BE EASY ON IT..
