Question type: Maintenance & Repair

From day one we've had the sqeaking break(pretty loud) problem.  The dealer initially told us it will go away, its new.  Now with 3000 miles its worst, they looked at it last week and the service managr essentially told me that its normal for the Murano and that its proably even states so in the owners manual.  Can anything be done to fix this annoying problem?  thanks

Sounds like the pads are glazed. Dealership probably told you this to get you out of his hair. Honestly, they should replace the pads, or remove the pads, scuff them a bit and do a light resurface on the rotors if they want to keep the customer happy. Brake squeak is not normal for anything -- it is a sign of glazing, excess brake dust, etc.

We bought our Murano last December and we have gone through hell with the dealership and Nissan Corp over this same issue. It has squealed since Day 2, but since it was raining, we didn't think much about it. It squeals more than ever and we are getting the total run around. We have contacted Texas Dept. of Transportation and are trying to qualify it for a Lemon Law issue. Nissan Corp. said the engineers have finally come up with a fix for it. This trip to the dealership for repairs will be trip #5!! If nothing is done this time, we are going to Channel 8 News!

we bought our murano in 2011. The time we changed the brakes, they were making a squeaky noise and we went back to Nissan, they tried to adjust them. We took the car but a problem was still there. We went back to them again, they told us to change the brake pads, of which we did. That did not solve the problem, we bought another new brakes thinking that may be a problem was with the brakes. Nothing helped, we are still driving with the same noise, you even shy when you brake because of the noise. We also had a gearbox failure twice with this murano. Instead of enjoying a car but it has cost us so much money. It seems like these muranos are having a lot of problems. I will never recommend any person to buy a murano.

My 2011 Murano brakes also squeak; when I take it in for other service, the dealership does its # point service and the brake linings have always been acceptable. They told me that Nissans have been known for having this issue, it may or may not go away by itself. It hasn't gone away, if anything it's been worse as of late.

Somebody told me to buy ceramic brakes and that will stop the squeaking. I haven't done it yet. does anyone know if that will help?
