07 Nissan Sentra Manual Transmission

Asked by HollieBelle40 Nov 28, 2018 at 02:26 PM about the 2007 Nissan Sentra Base

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

This car is a 6-speed. I can put it into all the gears, but Reverse (which you shift
up and to the left of 1st), 1st and 2nd gear don't do anything when put into gear,
there is no strange or loud noise, but when you let off the clutch and try to
accelerate nothing happens. 3rd, 4th, 5th and 6th all work fine - I have to start
in 3rd - do I need to replace the clutch or is it the tranny

did you figure out the problem? I have a 2017 Nissan Sentra 6 speed doing basically the same thing.

It sounds like an issue with your shift assembly and not your transmission. If you remove your shift knob and the cover so that you can view the actual shift channels and cables, you might be able to better troubleshoot. In my case, my shift bearing blew and I wound up replacing the shift assembly. Everything went well until my shift wasn’t able to find certain gears — turns out I didn’t seat it quite right. A quick adjustment and I was able to shift fluidly.
