Very hot center council

I have an 07 Buick Lacrosse 6 passenger. The
center council, which also turns into a seat
becomes really hot. Why? What causes that?

I have a 5 seater and I don't put any cold drinks in my cup holders because it's always warm. I can't tell you why this is but I can say you're not alone
