Infamous 2007 Jeep Grand Cherokee Stalling Problem

Asked by CT2Cali Feb 01, 2021 at 09:54 PM about the 2007 Jeep Grand Cherokee Limited

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

Bought a 2007 Jeep Grand Cherokee 4.0 v8 less than 2 weeks ago.  The
day after I got it it stalled at a stop light and AGAIN in a parking lot (while
parked), on the way home (while driving), and the next days while idling,
going 70 MPH, etc.  No engine lights come on and you can't even hear when
the engine shuts off. I can ALWAYS get the car to come on if I turn the
ignition switch off and power on again. This car HAS HAD the ignition switch
replaced from the 2014 recall. I believe this is electrical.  Further
investigation shows the previous owner (an RV mechanic) replaced just
about everything. The car is clean - new PCM, all grounds cleaned - it's
immaculate. The previous owner must have known about the stalling
problem but couldn't fix it. I've read tons of threads on this but never anyone
who fixes this.  Has anyone had success in remedying this on a 2007? I hear
the wires are thinner on this year JGC and the issue can be anywhere. Note
- no codes are coming up but I haven't taken it to a Chrysler dealer.
