2007 Jeep Grand Cherokee Intermittent Starting Problem
Ran into some intermittent start problems about a year ago, same time.
(Cranks, does not fire.) We looked at the "solenoid wire" that reportedly
becomes corroded and took the car in for the ignition switch recall. After
both were fixed, we had no problems (March - November with no
problems. Even the "transmission over temp" error disappeared). A few
months ago a friend and I pulled of the main road to take some photos -- I
turned on my hazard lights -- and about two hours later my car failed to
start, but started immediately the second time. We thought it could
potentially be an issue with the alarm system preventing the car from
starting -- took it to an auto-electrician twice to run codes but he could not
find anything. He suggested we take it back to the dealer and get the
ignition switch replaced again (difficult to turn the key -- might result in a
bad connection). The dealer replaced the tumbler instead, thinking that to
be the problem. And so here we are, three months later with the same start
problem. I have noticed that the car starts completely fine after sitting for
hour or more. The car will not start after sitting for 15-45 minutes. Anything
below or above will usually always result in a start. Otherwise there is no
rhyme or reason to why it won't start -- moisture, no moisture, cold, hot.
Would love some additional insight into what this could be.
