Sounds like your radiator is partially clogged/ blocked. You can do a flow test by taking off your radiator cap when the car is COOL AND OFF then turning your car on to let in warm up. Have something like a Turkey baster to suck up the rising coolant (put the coolant you suck up from the turkey baster in a clean bowl so you can put it back in the system when you're done) after you let the car warm up you should see in the neck of the radiator cap the coolant flowing pretty good. If the coolant current is slow then you probably have clogged/ blocked up area. You can try unclogging it by having your radiator flushed out but you may need a new radiator. If you have good flow/ current in the radiator your water pump might be going.

Make sure your fans are working properly too. If they're not that could definitely be the problem. Checking your radiator flow/coolant/water pump wad a great suggestion from the lady guy too. Good luck.

Over heat may cause by some of this components: Sensor, thermostat, radiator, water pump, hose, gasket, coolant, fan, relay, fuse,... bcm. sensor read coolant temp...thermostat allow coolant to flow from one chamber to next ...radiator job to hold and cool the coolant... water pump pushes the coolant..hose carry the coolants, gasket keeps coolant seal in its path solo, coolant have life too some 45k some 100k life before you change your coolant, fan keeps the exterior cool and coolant keeps interior cools. Relay and fuse and BCM is just control junction for fan and sensor to communicate and work in unified.... how the work is easy sensor read coolant temp report to BCM and ECM tells how much is needed then back to BCM and back to sensor as cycle goes ... over heat can come from anywhere ... like for example... there’s 2 way to really check your over heating issues..#1 is engine steaming and your smelling over heat smells ... that’s using your nose and head to check .. #2 is the over heating is only seen on instruments... let’s handle #2 if it’s not steaming your not smelling the over heat smell that’s using your nose smell your car around engine area... and open the radiator cap is coolant still full.. no bubbles or suds no leaks ... then it’s mostly like sensor fault or wire, BCM, cluster, ECM, etc.. now let’s handle #1 if your overheating and you don’t see leaks ...burp your car, sensor will read AIR TEMPERATURE instead coolant and will also throw fault because air temperature is higher then coolant plus sensor is not set to read air temp .. was meant for coolant or liquid type ... that’s usually simple errors that’s big missed the fact that you’ve already changed thermostat.... so remember air can give you errors... radiator clog is very real which is next common.. why radiator clog... well when you buy cheap products they don’t take time to make sure all are great .. which mean lots metal shaving will be found in radiator piping ... how you can check this ... get thermo camera and check your radiator when it’s normal operating temperature... what’s RED AND HOT IS OPEN ...And BLUE area are CLOGS ... i can go on and on but i hope this help you understand how each components works ... thanks ROCK
