Will a drain and fill fix my
transmission that is slipping, has
a high pitch whine, and a clunking
noise. It just started. The
transmission fluid is dark. There
are no shavings.

At this point it couldn't hurt. A tranny shop can change fluid and filter and run the tranny on a diagnostic stand to check all solenoids and modules are working.

Agree with Tom, it is likely too far gone for fluid and magic in a bottle to help.
