2006 pt cruiser wont shift out of low gears

car wouldnt start until i took it out of park and put back in park. now check engine light is on and wont change out of low gears

Check your transmission fluid level running in 'park'~ engine hot~ between the two hash marks....check the smell and color...should not be black or smell burnt...the level should be correct....take it to a transmission shop for service~

you really need to get it scanned. this will prob. leed you in right direction.

no chrysler transmissions use vac. mod. They use throttle pressure cables or linkages. newer diesels use a servo to change throttle pressure. Pcm controls it. the newest are just computer controlled.
