are your brake lights on permanent-like? whenever the brakes are depressed the signal is sent to shut off the cruise control.....this interlock could be preventing the cruise control from engaging~
Does the green cruise icon illuminate after pressing the ON button? If it has, after pressing and releasing the set button next, does it engage at all, or does the lamp extinguish? Try checking the cruise control relay in the underhood fuse/relay assy. Next, examinine the vacuum lines to the cruise servo that controls the accelerator, looking for holes or cracks, thus a leak. Finally, do all other steering wheel controls function, air bag, horn, radio? If not, the clock spring connector for these cables may be worn, then one by one, or all will operate intermittently or not at all if that's the bad boy.

Replace your brake light switch. My dealer charged me $200 just to find the problem, and all it needed was a $20 switch. It turns out that the brake light switch is the most common cause of cruise control problems. The power for the cruise passes through this switch, it has at least 3 circuits in it, and one of them shuts off the cruise.
first my power window on the drivers side stoped working then my cruise control stopped working and now my power seats dont work , can anyone help
I just want to know where the cruise control button is on my sebring
you guys literally didn't help I hate you
They fixed the motor mount and now my cruse control doesn’t work on my 1999 Chrysler Sebring XJI convertible Why
Cruise light shuts off, Will not turn on unless I restart the car.. All functions work on the steering wheel. Sequence, turn on cruise, set speed, (sometimes works properly) then by itself Cruise light goes off, you cannot turn it back on, without restarting the car. Sebring 2005
You describe the core issue (and my issue as well). Cruise initially engaging & working fine, but then after a time dropping out on its own and then either you can re-engage it or you cannot until the car has been stopped and restarted. In my case it started with an occasional unexplained cruise shutdown, but I could re-engage it. The shutdowns then became more frequent, and now once it happens it will not re-engage until taking the next trip, and even then it won't hold for long. My mechanic's instinct tells me to look for a vacuum leak, but the brake light switch also seems a possibility, especially if there are multiple circuits through it. Since this seems to have been asked in several forums but not answered, I'll try to get back with what more I can find out.
Bought brake light switch but it was wrong fit, so no swap. Swapped out the servo module, still have same problems but now worse. Notice there's a vacuum line running from the servo module to the front of car where I can't see where it goes, don't know what it's for unless to a vac reservoir. Will try to trace, and to order a brake switch (again).
