Why is my engine light on?

Asked by Mr. Apr 12, 2020 at 10:06 PM about the 2006 Chrysler Sebring Touring Convertible FWD

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

My car (a 2006 Chrysler Sebring convertible) only has
80K miles on the motor the check engine light came on
a few moments ago while driving in the rain with the
defroster on. I'm not sure if it has anything to do with it
but the hood is dented and water can get into it that way
however I wash the car often and haven't seen the light
till now I just took it on a 100 mile round trip and it did it
when we got into the driveway basically

There are over 800 possible trouble codes that can set and turn on the check engine light. Asking us to guess which one turned on the check engine light in your vehicle is impossible. Get the code read and that's your starting point.

Visit your local auto parts store and have them scan the computer for trouble codes. Post the codes you get and we can help further. Most stores will do it for free. Hope that helps! Jim
