my truck will not go in drive what is the reason why

I had the same problem with my suburban in my photo and that wasn't the problem. Try this before someone tears into your engine: 1.Block your front and rear wheels up with cinder blocks put the truck in drive and then in reverse and if the driveshaft spins its the rearend gone bad and needs replacing. 2.If the noise is where the transmission mounts to the engine turn off the truck and check the bolts to the flexplate and torque converter buy if they're tight then go to step 3. 3. If the driveshaft doesn't spin being really careful listen for where the sound is coming from and if it's between the engine and transmission where you hear the clunking sound then you need to replace the torque converter and flexplate.

I really think it's the rearend but this is how i found out when it stopped pulling.......Good luck

So if it don't spin in drive its the trans?

Put the truck in drive unblock the wheels let off the brakes and have someone look under the truck for whats happening if nothing moves it's the transmission but if the driveshaft spins it's the rearend

My truck no matter what gear from park to drive it still goes forward and the more I accelerate in park it speed up
