Just bought a 2006 Chrysler Town & Country. The power liftgate will not shut completely when the doors are all closed. When a door is open, the hatch will close completely. Why does it do this and How do I get it to close all the time? It almost closes, bounces back an inch or so and then just hangs there. Didn't realize it the first 2 times, and it closed itself 2 miles down the road, which seems even more strange.

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

Is the hatch indicator indicating open during these events? If its a power lift hatch the shuting/opening motor may have failing brushes and vibration may get the motor to work intermitantly, relay or broken or loose ground may also be an issue and quite possibly tom may be right and a simple adjustment may solve it. Hope that helps
