This guy made a great video on replacing or bypassing multifunction switch with a bad headlight switch, really worth checking out: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XklDty3pu-s , also I'd recommend hitting up a pull-a-parts place and getting an actual GM part on the cheap versus rigging up a toggle that might compromise your wiring harness.
