Harmonic balancer

Asked by Guru9PG6G Jul 15, 2017 at 09:26 PM about the 1990 Buick Electra Park Avenue Sedan FWD

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

Will it harm car if I drive with a bad harmonic balancer

5 Answers

Possibly. Vibrations set up in the engine could cause accelerated wear. If the main pulley fell off you would lose the function of all the engine accessories.

If the balancer comes apart it possibly could damage the engine or related parts. Don't drive it, get it repaired.
