Start issue after shutting off

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

Cold starts fine but after driving even a few minutes and shutting off it may or may not restart right away. If I wait 4 or 5 minutes it will restart again. It just turns over without firing off.

How long since a tune-up? Any applicable trouble codes? Could be almost anything? Battery has a full charge and connections all good? When problem is ongoing, check for spark at the plugs--proper fuel pressure and fuel injector pulse. Have helper crank it. I realize the engine may be hot, so wear gloves. When you check fuel pressure, when it comes up, turn off the key, see if pressure holds for a bit. If it drops like a rock, check for fuel pressure leak, maybe fuel injector leaking? Over-fueling on a hot restart can be a problem. Maybe intermittent rpm signal? If temp related check coolant temp sensor? You need to do some testing to point us in the right direction. Don't replace anything unless your testing points in that direction.
