What's wrong when car will not start at all now? Replaced MAF sensor
Asked by leclear Sep 26, 2014 at 09:45 PM about the 1999 Buick LeSabre Limited Sedan FWD
Question type: Maintenance & Repair
First of all started having problems with car starting. Did research and decided it was MAF
sensor. Tapped on it and seemed to help, so decided to get MAF cleaner to fix. After
cleaning sensor car did not start. Bought a new MAF sensor and car still will not start, but
lights come on fine.

great idea tom, also, what happens when you turn the key, engine turn over? If the battery tests good, have someone spray carb cleaner in the intake while you crank her over. if it fires then you may have a fuel issue. If it doesn't fire, you could have a spark issue. If you do get it running, go somewhere and have the battery load tested. In our area Lesschwab will do it for free. It also wouldn't hurt to have the codes in the computer scanned. Autozone usually does that for free. good luck
Tested voltage with 12.6V. And Mike the engine doesn't even turn over at this time.

Ok, it doesn't turn over. is there a clicking sound coming from under the hood? do you get dash lights or any indication of power at all. Check the battery connections to make sure they are tight and clean. check the ground wire to the engine block and make sure it is tight and clean. If you get dash lights and or clicking, the battery is dead. If there is no power at all, and i mean none, no dash lights or dome light or anything, then either the bat is dead completely or you have a bad ground. If you really want to be sure about the battery, unhook it, fully charge it with a charger, then take it somewhere and get it load tested. this takes a special load tester. In our area les schwab tires will test the battery. ask specifically for a load test.
