Motor swap

Asked by Dwayne Oct 26, 2017 at 09:52 PM about the 2000 Buick LeSabre Limited Sedan FWD

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

I got a 2000 Buick lesabre limited edition and a
2010 impala. I was wondering can you swap
motors. Take the motor out the 2010 impala and
put it in the 2000 Buick lesabre

You can turn a chevy smallblock sideways in a 93 buick century if you know if it'll fit or need to be sideways mounted and ran then yes just something to think about

It would not be a "Simple" swap. The Buick used the 3800 V6 engine which is a 90 degree V the Impala used the 3.9 V6 which is a 60 degree V. The engine would probably "fit" but there could be nightmares with the electronics. The engine control module (ECM) would need to stay with each engine, the problems start when you wire the ECM to the cars BCM....you might need to get a electrical engineering degree to complete the swap.
