How to remove Fuel Pump

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

I have accessed the fuel pump through the access in the trunk but when I go to pull the pump it will not come out. It seems the pump is just a fraction larger that the opening. I just need to replace the fuel level sensor so my Daughter is not stuck on the side of the road out of fuel. HELP

The pump is a right fit. I have changed mine 3 times since the car was new. Just pull hard after removing the floating device

Thank you very much. I just got back from the parts store and they brought up the original fuel pump on there computer and it shows the floating device not attached so the guy is telling me that is unusual and more than likely I have to remove the floating device before I pull the fuel pump to get it out.

New fuel ⛽ pump installed. Gas ⛽ gauge 1/3 tank. Car stalls on right hand turns, also stalls with fast take offs, parking on slanted hill car will not start. Gas tank 18 gal, will fill full with 14 gal. No proof yet. Conclusion: Gas pump installed incorrectly. Suck tube does not go to the bottom of the tank. Right turns moves gas away from pump, car stalls. Fast take off the same, Stalls. On slanted hill, won't start. Gas tank above half full no problems.

Every fuel pump I have ever changed on a 2000- 2005 buick lesabre didn't want to come out you just got to squeeze and turn it and try not to mess up the rubber seal then the new one should just drop down in without a problem.
