fouls only the first coil pack

The spark plug fouls? If so you probably have bad oil rings or valve guide seals in that cylinder. Try installing a hotter plug to help burn off the fouling.

Is the coil pack receiving excess heat from the engine? Have you installed new plugs and wires? Wires with too much resistance might make a coil go bad.

the coil packs in these are mounted on your ignition module. remove the three coils, then remove the module underneath them. i can almost guarantee that its corroded, or melted underneath. these things pop modules like popcorn. change the module, then the coil thats burned out. problem solved. later on, if you find the engine is acting up as if its the same problem again, but you check these parts and they are fine, then move on to your crank sensor. super common issue for these cars. good luck friend. sourch: auto tech for 12 years and gm tech for a few of them.
