How do I recharge the air conditioning system

I have the same issue, trying to charge the a/c for the same car using aftermarket r134a cans however I don't see a/c clutch is engaging when I turn on the a/c, without it won't take the gas in, any idea how to engage the a/c?, I tried to short the red and white cable on high pressure port switch but it only engage the clutch for like 2 seconds.
