Is it possible to temporarily bypass the fuel pump to start one time

Asked by 98_CHVY_2500_R Oct 13, 2024 at 09:14 AM about the 1998 Chevrolet C/K 2500 Cheyenne LB RWD

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

I need to relocate my truck in order to change
the fuel pump.  I have replaced the starter,
distributor + cap, and battery. It cranks but
won’t start.  Firestone diagnostic calls for fuel
pump replacement $1400.  Towing service from
current location to the location where I can
replace the fuel pump myself is $400. If I can get
it started I can drive it to repair location which is
a farm shop. Using tractor fork lift at the farm to
raise the bed and replace fuel pump costing me
$150 for the part, 2 hours, and an ice cold case
of coors. Unable to replace the fuel pump at
truck’s current location which is at a residential
customer job site.
