Extreme power loss, rough idle/stall, backfire

Asked by Khevy93 Dec 20, 2017 at 11:23 PM about the 1993 Chevrolet C/K 2500 Silverado LB 4WD

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

So today I was driving my truck (1993 chevy single
cab long bed 2500 with a 454), and it was running
fine. All of a sudden, after I stopped and turned at a
stop light, my truck lost all power. I mean all of it
right as it was supposed to shift into second gear, I
had to push the pedal all the way down just to get
it to accelerate the slightest bit. I parked it at a car
wash that was close and looked at it for a minute
and it wouldn't idle, it would just stall out. The only
thing I noticed was a spark plug had come off
somehow. It wasn't caught on anything, so I don't
think It was pulled out, I put it back on and it still
wouldn't idle. I have to give it gas to keep it from
stalling out. After about 2 hours i came back and
tried starting it and it started but it was rough, but
it still has no power, and it has huge trouble
shifting, after the rpms come back down, it
backfires. Any ideas? I just changed the cap and
rotor this summer and the spark plugs. It has
almost 200,000 mikes, like 198,000?
