What size motor? And what did the fuel pressure check at, and did you do a bleed down test?
5.7 liter Vortec I did not do the fuel pressure test myself all this stuff was done by shop and they said it all checks out to be normal they cannot find a reason why it was doing it.. I had another C 2500 that did the exact same thing and I got rid of it because I could not figure it out
Man I'll tell ya, This sure sounds like a fuel issue, but could also be in the EGR system. No codes? Sure would like to know what the fuel pressure is and the results of a bleed down test would be. It just gets me when a persons take their vehicle in to be fixed on a problem like this and basically send you on your way. Just about everything can be tested, and there are quite a few thing that could be involved to fix this. Its like where do you want me to start? So all that said, what about any codes? and one of the most common problems is with the fuel pressure.
Fuel pressure should be 56 to 63 lbs. 60lbs ideally.
Also cutting the converter off isn't gonna help if it is not plugged, It needs to be on there for the o2 sensors.
Had this on my 2500 305. Sat for two years. Rough idle black smoke. Barely started. Was the coolest temp sensor located on front of the block. Cheap fix. Runs perfect as soon as swapped
