A/C Stopped 1995 Chevy 3500

Asked by oliverquibble Jan 29, 2013 at 05:58 PM about the 1995 Chevrolet C/K 3500 Cheyenne Crew Cab LB RWD

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

1995 Chevy 3500 diesel dually turbo..76k miles. Had only 2 owers who used it to come to sunny FL from up North.
Bought from Chevy Dealer; specifically asked about AC strenght since reside in FL but plan on towing RV. Chevy Dealer said they ran a vacuum check the night before I picked up the keys... Two weeks later (today) hot air, no a/c. Suggestions to fix or check out. Cannot go to Dealer since untrustworthy. How will I know if coolant leak, how to know if I am going to be ripped off. I take ownership for buying old truck, but spoke with past owner and thought I was okay. I cannot trust the Dealer to fix.. Please suggestions.

I would take it back to the dealer you bought it from. See if the dealer will fix it. Your other choice is to pay for it your self and you can do that if the dealer fails.

1995 Chevy diesel, "yikes". That's the 6.5 Corporate diesel engine. I wish I could go back in time and give my truck back. I bought it thinking I can fix just about anything being a master car and truck certified mechanic but that engine is not fixable. So many very expensive major problems. The factory has haulted production several years ago of the 6.5 diesel and now only the "6500 Optimizer" is available. Company after company made a living trying to deal with all those internal engine mistakes. Take that vehicle back, now.
