screw driver binds up when trying to find TDC on 4.3 v6

I tried lining up the mark on the  Harm bal and the marker on Time chain cov and then the
#6 on the distributor It tries like hell to start but doesn't .So I thought I would go old school
and hold a T-15 Torx in the spark plug hole and  turn it over slowly on compression in the
#1Nope bound up the Torx Good thing I was going slowly any body know another way to
find TDC on a 4.3 in a 1998 K1500 4.3 V6 Thanks
