Check the timing with a light , check for injector pulse , something may have gone bad by pure coincidence while you were working on it .

I used my cousins computer for the timing. We went as far as using starter fluid in the butterfly. It has a bright blue spark and even with the starting fluid it wouldn’t start

Its your carburator get some carb cleaner and i take it apart and clean it really good

It’s a 96 5.7. It has fuel injection no carburetor. I sprayed starting fluid in the butterfly to see if it would start

Do a compression test to check if the valve timing is really correct. It might be 180° out. With valve timing not all engines are set with the number one cylinder at top dead center (TDC). Ignition timing is, but not always valve timing. Your ignition timing might be 180° out as well. Remove the spark plug from the number one cylinder and have someone bump the starter while you have your thumb over the spark plug hole. Assuming the valve timing is correct you should feel pressure against your thumb. When you do the timing mark on the harmonic balancer should be coming around to line up with the zero on the sawtooth. Zero is the large "V" on the sawtooth. When the timing mark is lined up with that turn the distributor to line up the rotor with the number one cylinder spark plug wire tower on the distributor cap. Put the distributor cap and rotor back on and have someone crank the engine while you slowly rotate the distributor one direction then the other until the engine starts. Make your final ignition timing adjustment using your timing light. Make sure the crankshaft position sensor is hooked up and working, if equipped, too. Hope that helps! Jim
