Asked by Andrew Feb 13, 2019 at 01:13 AM about the 1995 Chevrolet C/K 1500 Silverado Extended Cab 4WD

Question type: General

Ive got a 305 and i get around 8 miles to the gallon. And thats just crusing
around 3rd gear through town at like 2000 rpm. and it sucks because if i go
anywhere or go to do anything like mudding or just driving to my buddies
house which is about 20 miles away it drops about an 1/8 of a tank. and help
would be appreciated.

already did sparplugs oil change airfilter. just got my fuel filter today and
have yet to put it on. onlything done to the truck is it has a magnaflow
muffler. 305 5spd

Do you have oversize tires? Larger tires on 4x4 rigs also contributes to poor fuel economy.

nope just running stock 265s and its got 3.73s in the rear. its eventually not gonna be my daily driver as i plann on getting a mid 90s bmw 325i some time in the near future. but itd just help being able to get at least 10 to 15 mpg depending on the scenario. and even then, my dad used to have a suburban with a 454 in it and it got even better gas mileage than my truck.

oh ive already had two of them. nothing more than track cars and never really had any issues with them other than blowing one up. ive had my fair share of vehicles and even ones with bigger engines than this thing and they still get better gas mileage. i used to have a 94 dakota with a 360 in it. the 318s are junk. and it still got 14mpg hwy i get like a solid 10. so i think im gonna just run it till i find another dakota or something. ( i love those trucks)

figured out my issue, put my new fuel pump in and drove it for a few days. feels like it has more power fuel mileage seems to have gotten better and throttle response is great.
