Asked by TOT May 28, 2013 at 09:49 PM about the 1994 Chevrolet C/K 1500 Silverado Extended Cab LB 4WD

Question type: General

Looking at a generally good condition 1994 Chevy 1500 extended cab, short bed,
automatic 2WD, 350 engine. It's almost at 300,000 miles. Know the owner & truck's
history, it has been well maintained over the years. Transmission was replaced about
80,000 miles ago. May need cig lighter replaced (and cassette deck), otherwise no
current issues. Do they regularly make it past 300K miles? Known issues? Turning
radius as bad as rumored? Seller is asking $2,000 in rural California.

300k on the original engine is about its limit. Youll need a rebuild soon. And unless its in miraculously good shape, $2000 is too much.

I believe the Kelly Blue Book price on it would be about 1700 - 2000. Does the engine idle ok or does it sounds funny, have you driven it? and does it seem sluggish?? All things to think about. With a vehicle that old with that many miles.. unfortunately you never know what you could be getting into. I wouldn't offer anymore than 1200

My 5.7l has 203k and a gentlemen I know who has owned one since new has 435k on the original engine. It really just depends on how the vehicle was cared for over its life

If they are well looked after, the Chev 350 is a million mile engine. As long as the truck has been well maintained and not abused, it should have many, many happy miles left in it. My brother got almost 500,000 out of the 305 in his 86 Pontiac Safari wagon, and it was the body went, not the drive train.

If your are willing to admit there may be money put into it for engine and or transmission later on if it was not maintained properly, and you like the condition of the body, go for it. It is far cheaper that a 5 year loan at 0 % interest on a new one. Was it a transportation truck or a working truck? If it was used for hauling or towing, $1000 to $1499 tops.

the 5.7 350's have an excellent reputation, parts are inexpensive and easy to get. But it is just like anything if it was not well maintain and the checks done according to the manual.... my truck will go from Texas to Alaska with no problem, but then I baby it like it should be.

I have a 94 K1500 Suburban. It has 361044 mi. Runs well at high rpm (2.4K, 75 mph). Chasing down a low rpm miss. All else is good.

Jack, great news. The miss could be plugs, or plug wires. Even a coil. Have the coil checked, along with the plugs, and maybe put on new wires.

I have an 94 Chevy C1500, too. The original engine lasted 700,000 miles in mine.
