1994 Chevy K1500 5.7L

Asked by Tyler Dec 29, 2020 at 08:21 PM about the 1994 Chevrolet C/K 1500 Silverado Extended Cab 4WD

Question type: Car Customization

I’m looking at putting a aftermarket fuel gauge
into my truck as my cluster is shot , I installed
a new sending unit and pump today and
would like to know fuel level instead of
guessing. I’ve done some research and
believe my sending unit reads from
0hms(empty) - 90ohms(full) and I have
ordered the gaues I’m just trying to figure out
which wire on the sending unit itself sends the
signal to the gauge I can not seem to find info
anywhere.. any help will be appreciated,
thankyou

Note the diagram for your instrument cluster. The top wire is voltage, fuse protected and goes hot with key. The solid black wire wire that goes to sending unit is partly ground. The sending unit provides resistance to ground controlled by the float level. The bottom black wire, far left, is a chassis ground. Hopefully, your new gage will have wiring instructions. good luck
