Check fuel filter or just change your spark plugs with wires & does it shoot black smoke when you rev it ?

Ground cable rotted off between firewall and frame on my 94 K1500. Factory braided ground cable is thin, only about 3/8 inch wide..replaced with better braided ground cable.
